Group Project House

Image
We began toying with the idea of a town or city. After discussing the various ways we could go about our idea, we somehow ended up with the idea of a house. We all put a few random words that popped into our heads and put them in a bucket. We ended up looking through all the ideas and picking our favorite words. The best words were doom, gloom, otherworldly, different dimensions, dark, and fairy. The overall theme of our home will be dark and gloomy. There are little metaphoric easter eggs to look for between the rooms. Each of us is using our favorite medium; Mariah is using clay for the kitchen, Danielle is using wire for the attic, Shauna is using textiles and plaster for the bathroom, Sophie is using wood for the bedroom, and I am using found objects for the living room. Everyone is going about their room in a personal way. The final sculpture will stack on top of one another or hang next to each other on the wall. Our final presentation is stacked currently.  Work-in-progress

Labor

The prompt, "Labor – work that investigates things like evidence of labor such as marks or repeated wear. This could be investigating new forms of labor, I’m thinking influencers. Possibly considering what the future of labor looks like for humans. This could also be the labor of the artist either as evidence or performance" as a sculpture. I am considering doing a theme of overworking or conveying the feeling of being "burnt out" from school and work. I want to use candles because the wax burns down over time like people can. "A sculpture of different colored melted candle wax dripped over a wire cage" -i like the way the wax drips off "A sculpture of different colored melted candle wax depicting the theme "burn out"" -the layers of color is nice, I like the bendy shape appearance "A sculpture of different colored melted candle wax depicting the theme labor" -cool concept but I am not looking to depict actual people, bri
