Project #2 - Robot #2

Artist Statement: I continued with robot creations further into this project. The name of my new robot is, "L1GHT" inspired by the lighting effect created. I enjoyed our found objects project the most and continued this with my final work. Similar to my last robot, I am inspired by the movie  Robots  again for this project. My previous robot was inspired by the plot of the movie; robots feel that they do not need to be fixed or get new parts, they are happy with their random mix. For this new robot, I wanted to focus on the antagonist aspect of the movie where robots are trying to assimilate all into using new and improved pieces. The way that light shines on the wall fascinates me and I am pulled in more by the spinning back. Again, my robot is made from parts of a coffee machine and a fluorometer. Tension

Using the AI tool Dall-e, I was able to begin my idea process. I put in the prompt I was given for the tension theme. Then I started to play around with various wording to see what was produced. I also a few comments under the pictures to help me remember what stands out to me most. Above the photos are the exact prompts I used to generate the images.  "The prompt, "Tension – this could be either physical or conceptual tension. I can see this playing out in the materials and form they choose or in the subject matter (found objects possibly). It is open ended and I can see a variety of solutions for it. A Few Of My Favorite Things

  1. Perfume. My favorite scent is vanilla. I try to get this specific perfume or things vanilla scented as I am reminded of home. 2. Planner. I get a new planner every year. Writing my to-do list down physically helps me to stay organized and remember what is due and when. 3. Glasses. I, unfortunately, cannot see very far, so I love my glasses. They let me see things more clearly and I have them on me almost every single day. 4. Pen. Writing is a big part of my life as I am able to describe how I feel or simply write about something random. The pen is also a nice lilac color.  5. Seashell. Shells remind me of the ocean, which I am fascinated with. They also remind me of my family as they love the beach.  6. Key. Keys have always been interesting to me, they hold the power to unlock or re-lock various items. They help me remember that there is always another option and things are unique, like keys.  7. Ring.
