Mold & Modeling Sculpture
Artist Statement:
After four attempts on this project, I ended up with mini water bottle sculptures. After I made multiple molds for the bottles, I poured a couple of each to end up with a handful of them. I trimmed each piece with an exacto-knife to clean them up a bit. I stacked up the water bottles to put emphasis on our worldly plastic issue, especially about single-use plastic water bottles. These were relatively easy to create as the mold was already there, as is for making the real bottles. We overproduce so many and they end up in our environment, killing animals and us as humans. If we stop producing these harmful bottles altogether, our environment would begin to improve significantly. Micro-plastics are coming back to harm humans. I hope to shed light on the overproduction of plastic bottles through my final piece. The final work is photographed in the greenery to show emphasis on the amount of plastic

pollution in our environment.
I began making a mold of my ring holder, which unfortunately fell apart during the silicone process. Then, I tried to mold my actual piece, which did not come off properly. I then made my first tiny water bottle along with trying to mold my mints container. After multiple failures, I kept going with my water bottle idea. I learned again, for the second project in a row, that not all my first ideas will work as I indent; sometimes even the second and third will not either. You must continue to try and work with your pieces, even after the failures.
